My PC shows "Offline" or "Asleep"
Your list of PCs shows whether each one can be reached right now. You can connect only to a PC that shows Online.
"Asleep since …"
The PC went to sleep or hibernated, so it can't be reached until someone wakes it (press a key or the power button). DextraDesk can't wake a PC from the browser.
To stop it falling asleep on its own, on that PC right-click the DextraDesk icon by the clock and make sure Keep this PC awake so I can connect has a tick. It's on unless you turned it off. With it on:
- Windows doesn't put the PC to sleep when it's idle. The screen still turns off as usual.
- It works only while the PC is plugged in. A laptop on battery still sleeps, to save the battery.
- Choosing Sleep from the Start menu, or closing a laptop's lid, still puts it to sleep.
"Offline · last seen …"
The PC isn't connected to DextraDesk. Check, in this order:
- It's switched on and online. Can it open a website?
- DextraDesk is running and not paused. The icon by the clock shows its state. If its menu says Resume, click it.
- It's still paired. If the menu offers Pair this PC, the PC was removed from your account: pair it again.
- Restart the PC. DextraDesk starts with Windows, even before anyone signs in.
Still offline? Right-click the icon on the PC, choose Report a problem… and click Send, or email support@dextradesk.com.
