Install DextraDesk and add your PC

Do this once, on the Windows PC you want to reach. The device you connect from needs only a web browser.

Install

  1. Create a free account and click the link in the email we send you.
  2. On the PC, sign in at app.dextradesk.com/download and download DextraDesk. If your browser asks whether to keep the file, choose Keep.
  3. Open the file. Windows asks "Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?" and shows Verified publisher: Derek Svarc, the developer of DextraDesk. Click Yes.
  4. If Windows first shows "Windows protected your PC", click More info and check the publisher says Derek Svarc, then click Run anyway. Windows shows this for programs it hasn't seen often yet.
  5. Installing takes under a minute. The DextraDesk icon then sits by the clock (click the ^ arrow if you don't see it).

Add the PC to your account

  1. Right-click the DextraDesk icon and choose Pair this PC. Your browser opens with a code filled in: sign in and click Add PC.
  2. Back at the PC, a window asks whether to let your account see and control it. Check it shows your own email, and click Allow. Only an administrator of the PC can do this.
  3. From now on, sign in at app.dextradesk.com on any device and click Connect next to the PC.

If someone phones you and asks you to install DextraDesk or read out a code, it's a scam. Click Deny, hang up, and tell us at support@dextradesk.com.

Updates

DextraDesk updates itself, only while nobody is connected. Every update is signed by us and checked by your PC before it's installed. To check straight away, right-click the icon and choose Check for updates.

Remove it

  1. On the PC, open Settings → Apps → Installed apps, find DextraDesk, click … and choose Uninstall.
  2. At app.dextradesk.com, remove the PC from My PCs.
